Warwickshire recruit Indian newcomer Manav Suthar for County Championship season.

Rookie Suthar shines as India takes a commanding 451-run lead over Afghanistan.
The Warwickshire County Cricket Club has secured the signing of India’s latest Test cricketer, Manav Suthar, for the upcoming two rounds of the ongoing County Championship. The left-arm spinning all-rounder is set to join Warwickshire for matches against Yorkshire County Cricket Club in Scarborough starting June 12, and Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton the following week.

“We are thrilled to announce the signing of Manav Suthar on a short-term deal. The Indian international will be eligible for selection in the next two rounds of the Rothesay County Championship,” Warwickshire stated in an announcement.

Suthar arrives in England following a remarkable Test debut against Afghanistan, where he took 6 for 33 in the first innings and 1 for 29 in the second, finishing the match with seven wickets and earning the Player of the Match honors.
James Thomas, Warwickshire Performance Director, remarked: “We’re very pleased to welcome Manav to the Bears at an exciting moment for the team. We’ve been playing some impressive red-ball cricket this season, and Manav will add a fresh dimension to our bowling lineup. His selection for India’s Test side last week speaks volumes of his talent, and we’re eager to have him on board.”

The spinner from Rajasthan has also become only the second Indian bowler, after Amit Mishra, to achieve a five-wicket haul in his debut Test innings. Notably, he made an impact in his very first over, becoming just the second Indian this century to do so after Tinu Yohannan.

Suthar expressed, “I’m really thrilled to be joining Warwickshire for the next two County Championship matches. The team has started the season strongly, and I’m hopeful that I can contribute to their title aspirations.”

Originating from Sri Ganganagar, Suthar had already established an impressive first-class record before making his international debut, having taken 129 wickets in 29 matches.
