The revamped assistant, named “Siri AI”, was revealed at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held in Cupertino, California. The enhanced Siri is capable of analyzing content on a user’s screen, retrieving online information, and comprehending personal context across applications and conversations.
Apple stated that Siri AI will possess “extensive world knowledge” and offer the ability to engage in more natural dialogues. Users can revisit past interactions, and Siri can pull up details such as an address mentioned in a message, even if it’s not formally saved on the device.
Additionally, the company is introducing a dedicated Siri AI app as part of its broader commitment to artificial intelligence.
“Genuinely helpful AI should focus on you and your needs,” remarked Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi during the keynote. He emphasized that Apple’s strategy centers on deeply integrating AI into everyday products while ensuring strong privacy protections.
This announcement arrives as Apple confronts increasing competition from companies like Google and Microsoft, which have aggressively incorporated AI assistants into their offerings.
In contrast to some competitors that have concentrated on highly autonomous AI agents capable of complex tasks, Apple has prioritized practical features to enhance the user experience while safeguarding personal data.
Apple CEO Tim Cook indicated that this year’s developer conference would spotlight Apple Intelligence and the company’s evolving AI approach.
In addition to Siri, Apple also introduced iOS 27, the latest version of its mobile OS, compatible with iPhone 11 models and newer devices. The next version of MacOS will be called “Golden Gate.”
During the event, Apple unveiled new child-safety features, including updated parental controls that allow parents to restrict app access by default, along with a new “Ask to Browse” feature requiring children to seek permission before accessing new websites.
The company is also broadening safeguards that automatically blur graphic images in messaging apps and notify parents when potentially harmful content is detected.
Industry analysts noted that the Siri update represents Apple’s most significant AI initiative to date, as the company strives to close the gap with competitors while maintaining its long-standing emphasis on privacy and control over its ecosystem.
This move indicates that Apple is preparing to take a much more prominent role in the forthcoming phase of AI-driven computing, although it is adopting a more cautious approach than many of its rivals.
