DMK Sends Defamation Notice to TVK MLA M R Pallavi, Demands Apology Within 24 Hours

DMK Sends Defamation Notice to TVK MLA M R Pallavi, Demands Apology Within 24 Hours
The DMK has issued a legal notice to TVK MLA M R Pallavi, who represents the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar Constituency, demanding an unconditional apology for allegedly making “reckless and defamatory” remarks about members of the opposition party.

This notice, dated June 6, was sent by DMK advocate and spokesperson Saravanan. It has also been forwarded to the Resident Grievance Officer for YouTube (Google LLC).

The issue arose from a video interview conducted with TVK leader Pallavi, which aired on a local channel and was later shared on their YouTube channel, widely circulated as a “Shorts” clip on various social media, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
The notice claimed that during the interview, the anchor posed questions to the MLA concerning the frequent power outages occurring in Chennai’s Kolathur Constituency and surrounding areas. In her response, Pallavi allegedly made numerous “false imputations,” asserting that DMK members were to blame for the recent power cuts and had bribed Tamil Nadu Electricity Board officials to undermine the TVK government.

The notice further highlighted her claim that TVK activists in the Royapuram Constituency found DMK members using money and influence to engineer the power failures deliberately.

The legal notice firmly condemned these statements as “entirely baseless” and lacking any factual foundation. It insisted that the allegations damage the integrity of dedicated DMK members, foster hostility among political parties, and have inflicted “irreparable harm to the reputation, credibility, and public image of DMK party members.”

The complainant has called for both the MLA and the media outlet to issue a prominent and unconditional apology across all their social media channels within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

They have also demanded the immediate and permanent removal of the complete interview video, the Shorts clip, and all related reproductions from every controlled social media account.

If compliance is not met within the specified 24-hour timeframe, DMK has warned that it will be compelled to pursue appropriate civil and criminal legal actions against the implicated parties, making them liable for all associated costs and damages.
