West Bengal Cabinet Expansion Today: CM Suvendu Adhikari to Swear in 35 BJP MLAs as Ministers, Ceremony to be Held at Lok Bhavan with Governor RN Ravi.
The first cabinet led by BJP in West Bengal will see an expansion on Monday (June 1), with 35 MLAs preparing to take their oath as ministers, according to CM Suvendu Adhikari.

Governor RN Ravi will administer the oath at 11 am at Lok Bhavan, as stated by the Chief Minister.

”A comprehensive Council of Ministers for the nationalist government elected by the people of West Bengal will be formed,” Adhikari shared in a social media update on Sunday (May 31) evening.
”In this cabinet expansion, 35 ministers of the Government of West Bengal will take their oath at Lok Bhavan at 11 am. Hon’ble Governor Shri RN Ravi will administer their oath of office at Lok Bhavan,” he further mentioned.
The oath-taking event will occur three weeks after Adhikari was officially sworn in as Chief Minister on May 9, during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP leaders, and CMs from NDA-ruled states.

Alongside Adhikari, BJP legislators Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Nisith Pramanik, Ashok Kirtania, and Kshudiram Tudu also received their ministerial oaths.

Following the addition of these 35 legislators, the cabinet will expand to a total of 41 members, falling three short of the maximum number of ministers allowed in the 294-member assembly.

This cabinet expansion was anticipated this week after Adhikari and state BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya held discussions with the party’s central leadership in New Delhi regarding ministerial inductions.

The current six-member cabinet demonstrates the BJP’s efforts towards social and regional balance, including representatives from Brahmin, OBC, tribal, Matua, and Rajbanshi communities.

The swearing-in ceremony on May 9 took place at the Brigade Parade Grounds, following the BJP’s acquisition of 208 seats in the 294-member assembly during the recent elections, which ended the Trinamool Congress’ 15-year governance, marking a significant electoral win in eastern India.
