Speaking to reporters at his residence in Poes Garden, the acclaimed actor emphasized that his meeting with the former chief minister was not aimed at obstructing Vijay’s ambitions or merging political entities.
Rejecting any notion of envy towards TVK founder and Chief Minister Vijay, the “Jailer” actor acknowledged the significant 25-year generational gap between them and praised Vijay’s remarkable accomplishments at such a tender age, stating they exceeded those of the iconic MGR (MG Ramachandran) and NTR (N T Rama Rao). Both MGR and NTR transitioned from cinema legends to chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and what was then undivided Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
“I have known Vijay since his childhood. Why would I feel jealousy over his becoming CM? At just 52, he has achieved more than MGR and NTR… I feel no envy whatsoever,” he remarked.
Rajinikanth congratulated Vijay, whose TVK secured 108 seats to form the government with support from Congress, VCK, Left parties, and IUML after triumphing over DMK and AIADMK in the April 23 elections.
The superstar further stated that he refrained from entering politics due to health concerns and encouraged his fans to support any political party they prefer.
Rajinikanth also called on the public to give Vijay a two-year window to make his mark.
