Kerala CM VD Satheesan Oath-Taking Ceremony LIVE Updates: The Chief Minister-designate VD Satheesan is set to take his oath as the new Chief Minister of Kerala on Monday, May 18, with the ceremony scheduled for 10 am at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Joining Satheesan, a 20-member Council of Ministers will also be sworn in as the newly formed United Democratic Front (UDF) government officially takes office.

Cabinet finalised after UDF discussions
On Sunday, May 17, Satheesan completed the cabinet composition after consulting with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and submitting the list of ministers, according to News18.

This final line-up was reportedly crafted through thorough discussions among UDF partners.

Satheesan will also hold the finance portfolio while serving as Chief Minister.

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has been appointed to oversee the Home department.

Chennithala advocates for Congress’ good governance, five guarantees

Chennithala informed reporters that the Congress-led government is set to implement five guarantees announced by party leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Today marks a significant day for the people of Kerala, as the UDF returns to power after 10 years… It is our duty to provide effective governance to the people of Kerala. The new government will take oath today… I am responsible for the home portfolio… The Home Minister’s role is to uphold law and order in the state,” he stated, according to ANI.

“We aim to improve administration and enhance the law and order situation in Kerala… Our leader Rahul Gandhi has presented five guarantees, and we will ensure their implementation…” he added.

Numerous senior Congress leaders have secured positions in the ministry, including K Muraleedharan and Sunny Joseph.

Other Congress ministers comprise AP Anilkumar, PC Vishnunadh, Roji M John, Bindhu Krishna, M Liju, T Siddique, and OJ Janeesh, as reported by News18.

KA Thulasi has also been appointed and will be one of the two women ministers from the Congress representation.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will be represented by PK Kunhalikutty, PK Basheer, N Shamsudheen, KM Shaji, and Abdul Gafoor.

Alliance partners such as CP John, Shibu Baby John, Anoop Jacob, and Mons Joseph have also been included in the ministry.

Additionally, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the Speaker of the Assembly, while Shanimol Usman will act as Deputy Speaker.
