CSK Faces Another Blow as Essential All-Rounder Heads Home to Assess Thigh Injury
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Jamie Overton has returned to the UK to assess the severity of a right thigh injury, significantly impacting the team’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season.

This season, Overton has claimed 14 wickets and contributed 136 runs with the bat.

“Jamie Overton is dealing with a right thigh injury and will head back to the UK for further examination and care,” CSK announced on social media.
This setback compounds CSK’s injury woes, with key players such as Ayush Mhatre, Khaleel Ahmed, Nathan Ellis, and Ramkrishna Ghosh also facing health concerns.
On Wednesday, CSK confirmed that they have signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh from Maharashtra.

Upcoming challenge against Lucknow

For Chennai, the situation is clear – they must win their remaining matches and wish for favorable outcomes in other games. CSK currently sits fifth in the standings, boasting six wins from 11 matches.

Despite ongoing criticism regarding their finishing capabilities, the five-time champions have displayed resilience through vital contributions from Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and other promising players.

Young batter Urvil’s bold approach at the top has injected crucial momentum into CSK’s powerplay scoring. On Friday, Shivam Dube, Kartik Sharma, and Dewald Brevis are expected to play significant roles in the middle overs on a pitch known to support attacking play.
