Ixigo Launches AI-Powered App Featuring Conversational Assistant and Interactive Capabilities
Travel platform ixigo has unveiled an AI-driven version of its mobile app, featuring a revamped user experience centered on conversational and agent-based artificial intelligence.

The company stated that the latest iteration of its app incorporates AI throughout the travel journey, enabling users to plan and reserve flights and hotels using voice, text, or tap-based inputs, moving away from traditional search filters and multi-screen navigation.

At the core of the enhanced platform is an AI assistant named TARA, which has been revamped as a multimodal interface capable of addressing travel inquiries, offering recommendations, and facilitating booking-related tasks within the app. It supports English, Hindi, and Hinglish, with plans for additional languages in the future.
This assistant can handle both structured and unstructured requests, including multi-city itineraries and specific accommodation requests. The company noted that it can also offer personalized recommendations based on user history and contextual information within the app.
ixigo explained that the assistant is also designed to provide proactive travel updates, including flight statuses, schedule modifications, weather details, and airport-related information like terminals and gate changes.

The platform has introduced a feature named Trip Mode, which centralizes post-booking travel details such as boarding passes, gate information, baggage updates, and real-time alerts into a single interface. The company mentioned that this feature also offers contextual travel assistance, including departure timing suggestions based on traffic conditions.

Another enhancement, referred to by the company as agentic travel flows, allows automated systems to execute specific travel-related tasks in the background. These tasks include sending boarding passes to users, linking them with digital wallets, and sharing them with government-supported digital identity systems where applicable.

The company also indicated that its systems can monitor flight schedules, send alerts for delays or cancellations, and help with refund processes. Some of these features are optional, it added.

The app showcases a redesigned homepage featuring personalized content tailored to user behavior and travel history, along with a refreshed design that includes a dark mode option.
