As stated by KPCC chief Sunny Joseph on Wednesday, the Congress Legislature Party meeting will convene at 1 pm on May 14.
This announcement follows indications from the Congress high command that the uncertainty surrounding Kerala’s next chief minister will conclude on Thursday, nearly ten days after the Assembly election results were released.
Following a discussion between Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at Kharge’s residence in New Delhi, party general secretary Jairam Ramesh confirmed that leadership discussions had been finalized.
“As authorized by the CLP members in Kerala, the Congress high command has concluded all discussions, and the announcement regarding the next chief minister of Kerala will be made tomorrow,” Ramesh informed reporters.
The Congress-led UDF achieved over a two-thirds majority in the Kerala Assembly elections; however, the party has been engaged in extended consultations regarding leadership due to lobbying from various factions and local worker protests.

AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Kerala Assembly, V D Satheesan, and senior party leader Chennithala are among the key candidates being considered for the position.
In recent days, Rahul Gandhi has held individual discussions with several Kerala leaders and former state Congress chiefs to gauge the political landscape before the high command reached a final decision.
