The oath-taking ceremony took place at Khanapara in Guwahati, attended by numerous senior BJP leaders. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya officiated the oath ceremony for Sarma.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah were in attendance. The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, also graced the event as a special guest.

The NDA coalition, which includes the BJP, AGP, and BPF, secured 102 seats out of 126 in the Assam Assembly, with the BJP winning 82 of those. BJP leader JP Nadda mentioned that eight BJP MLAs had nominated Sarma as the leader of the legislature party.
This oath-taking event signifies the NDA’s third consecutive term in Assam.

Alongside Sarma, four leaders were also sworn in as ministers. The individuals introduced include Rameswar Teli, Ajanta Neog, Atul Bora, and Charan Boro.
Rameswar Teli, a prominent tea-tribe leader, previously served as Union Minister of State in Narendra Modi’s government and recently reclaimed his seat in the Assam Assembly representing Duliajan.
Ajanta Neog, a six-time MLA from Golaghat, was the Finance Minister in Sarma’s prior administration and is recognized as Assam’s first woman finance minister.
Atul Bora, the president of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and Charan Boro from the BPF have also been included in the Cabinet as part of the NDA alliance arrangement.
Sarma indicated that the final list of ministers would be finalized after consultations with BJP national president Nitin Nabin, according to News18.

Following the oath ceremony, PM Modi extended his greetings to and interacted with the newly inaugurated Assam cabinet.
