This decision arises as Xbox gears up for an incredibly packed release schedule in late 2026, with numerous significant first-party titles set to take center stage in the gaming arena. By rescheduling Fable for early 2027, Microsoft aims to ensure the game gets the recognition it deserves.
In a post shared on X, the gaming brand expressed, “This year is filled with amazing games for XBOX enthusiasts, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, alongside Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Grand Theft Auto VI.”
They added, “To coordinate our game launches through the holiday season in a manner that best serves players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027, allowing it the dedicated moment it merits.”

The company also confirmed that fans should anticipate a fresh look at Fable during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. “We’re thrilled to provide players with a significant new glimpse at Fable and our broader lineup during the XBOX Games Showcase on June 7,” they mentioned.
Meanwhile, Fable acknowledged that the delay might let down fans, but reassured them that more information about the game is forthcoming.
“We realize this is disappointing, but it won’t be long before you’re back in Albion making ethically questionable choices. We’ll unveil some major Fable revelations @XBOX Showcase on June 7th, so be sure to tune in.”

During the Xbox podcast, the company’s chief content officer, Matt Booty, noted that the game’s development is progressing well and that the delay is not due to any concerns about its quality.
“The team is feeling positive. We’re excited about the game’s direction,” Booty stated. “We want to ensure the game has its own specific window, so we are moving it from this fall to February.”
Initially announced in 2020, Fable signifies the revival of Microsoft’s long-standing fantasy RPG franchise, with development led by Playground Games, recognized mainly for the Forza Horizon series.
