World Cup 2026: Quarterfinal Ticket Prices Plummet Almost 60% After USA and Portugal’s Elimination

World Cup 2026: Quarterfinal Ticket Prices Plummet Almost 60% After USA and Portugal's Elimination
For those eager to catch the World Cup quarterfinals, ticket prices have taken a significant dip. Resale market rates have plummeted by nearly 60% following the exits of the United States and Portugal in the round of 16.

The resale price for entry to Friday’s match has dropped dramatically to approximately $1,200 as of Tuesday afternoon, down from $2,950 earlier, as reported by TickPick. This decline coincided with the US team’s elimination in the Round of 16, where they faced a 4-1 defeat against Belgium in Seattle on Monday.

Spain’s narrow 1-0 victory over Portugal on the same day also affected ticket demand. This outcome marked the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup journey and significantly reduced interest in a potential quarterfinal showdown between the US and Portugal, which likely would have driven prices up.
With this turn of events, all three co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup have exited in the Round of 16. Canada was knocked out after a 2-0 loss to Morocco on Saturday, while Mexico was eliminated by England on Sunday night.

Ticket Prices Drop

The average resale prices for World Cup quarterfinals have decreased by 31.5% in just one day and 50.4% over the past three days, according to SeatPick. The secondary market currently lists 49,415 available tickets, a significant increase from 28,285 at the tournament’s start.

This year’s World Cup is already renowned as the most expensive in history, with initial resale prices reaching up to seven times higher than in past tournaments. The semifinals are also feeling the price downturn, with the entry point for the final estimated at around $9,000. Prices for these matches could rapidly increase depending on the teams advancing in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the upcoming quarterfinal between France and Morocco in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is the most affordable option at present. Tickets for that match start at $989.

France is currently favored to win the trophy, with Spain, Argentina, and England following closely behind.
