Construction has commenced on the cricket stadium designated for the 2028 Los Angeles Games, marking the sport’s return to the Olympics after 128 years, according to a statement from the International Cricket Council on Wednesday.
The temporary venue located at the Fairgrounds in Pomona, Southern California, will host competitions featuring six teams in each of the men’s and women’s 20-overs format events.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated, “Our focus has been on expanding the footprint of cricket and being part of the Olympic movement is something that brings both pride and dreams with it.”
Additionally, the venue is set to host three Major League Cricket (MLC) matches from July 1 to 5 this year, as mentioned by the ICC.
