US Military Strikes Eliminate Islamic State Leader in Syria, Reports Central Command
Last week, the US military executed an airstrike in northwestern Syria that resulted in the death of a prominent Islamic State leader, according to a statement from US Central Command on Wednesday.

The operation, conducted on Friday, was part of ongoing US initiatives aimed at disrupting and eliminating threats posed by terrorists targeting Americans overseas or on domestic soil. The airstrike killed Ali Husayn al-Ulaywi, as mentioned in a statement on X.

The Islamic State has initiated a new wave of operations in Syria against President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government, executing several attacks since February. Last year, Sharaa’s administration became part of the US-led coalition fighting against the Islamic State.
On Saturday, the militant organization took responsibility for an assault near Manbij, located in Syria’s northeastern Aleppo province.

At the height of its influence during the Syrian civil war a decade ago, the Islamic State controlled around 25% or more of Syria, before being pushed out by a US-led coalition and various adversaries.
