President Donald Trump stated that the five-month conflict with Iran could conclude soon, while acknowledging supply shortages affecting some US military equipment.
In the meantime, an Iranian parliamentary committee is deliberating a proposed bill that would ban US, Israeli, and other vessels classified as “hostile” from entering the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by the Fars news agency, citing a lawmaker. Offenders could face fines of up to 20% of the cargo’s value.
Tensions have also risen in the region after a Houthi attack in Saudi Arabia’s southern Najran province left 11 civilians injured, including a four-year-old child, according to Reuters. Saudi Arabia has cautioned that joint attacks by the Houthis and Iranian-backed Iraqi militias may be on the horizon.
