The semiconductor manufacturer is set to invest an initial $2 billion for approximately a 20% stake in Lancium, which is supported by Blackstone, according to the report.
Furthermore, Nvidia may add another $1 billion contingent on the company achieving specific metrics, such as grid connections, the report noted, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lancium and its array of land and power assets are valued at about $10 billion, according to the information.
This investment is anticipated to assist Lancium in scaling its operations as it considers a potential initial public offering in 2027, the report indicated.
Neither Nvidia nor Lancium promptly responded to Reuters’ inquiries for comment.
Stargate represents a collaboration among SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle to establish data centres. The initiative was initially announced in January by US President Donald Trump, who stated that the companies would invest up to $500 billion to develop infrastructure for artificial intelligence.Lancium possesses the 1,000-acre Lancium Clean Campus located in Abilene, Texas, which serves as the inaugural operational site of the Stargate project.
