US Iran Israel War Ceasefire Live News Updates: President Donald Trump is considering a new Iranian proposal designed to end the ongoing conflicts and reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The proposal, currently being assessed by Trump and his national security advisors, emphasizes postponing discussions on Iran’s nuclear program while focusing on de-escalation efforts.

The Iranian initiative aims for an immediate end to hostilities and the restoration of maritime access through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg. Post-meeting, Araghchi noted that Tehran is reviewing a US request to restart negotiations, indicating a cautious shift towards diplomatic interactions.

As tensions escalate, the United Nations has called for the “urgent and unimpeded reopening” of the Strait of Hormuz. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the ongoing situation could threaten global supply chains and may lead to a food security crisis.

Despite a ceasefire announced on April 17, clashes between Israel and Hezbollah continue. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have reportedly led to at least 40 deaths since the truce came into effect, according to Al Jazeera.
