US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the text of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning the Iran deal will be unveiled “pretty soon,” with expectations that it will be published after Friday.

While meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Evian-les-Bains, Trump referred to the document as “a very powerful document,” contrasting it sharply with the Iran agreement from the Obama administration, which he labeled “a terrible document.”

Regarding the sanctions relief associated with the framework, Trump indicated that its activation would rely on Iran’s adherence to the terms.
“It’s really a behavioral thing. If they do what they’re supposed to do, that starts taking effect,” he stated.

On the issue of maritime traffic, Trump asserted that the Strait of Hormuz is beginning to reopen, with shipping activity already ramping up.

“Ships are starting to go out now. On Friday, it will be completely opened,” he continued, without elaborating on specific operational details.

Previously, in a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that oil-carrying ships were starting to move through the Strait of Hormuz, indicating a revival of traffic through one of the globe’s most vital energy chokepoints.

He noted that numerous vessels laden with oil were “starting to move” out of the strait and were navigating the southern shipping route, which he characterized as “totally safe, secure, and pristine.”

In other news, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the draft memorandum of understanding emerged from extensive discussions and ongoing diplomatic initiatives. He expressed that if all provisions were properly executed, it might be regarded as “a document of pride” for Iran.

Pezeshkian also expressed gratitude to Iranian officials engaged in the negotiations, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and additional members of parliament.

Separately, Reuters reported that the memorandum of understanding has been signed by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, as per a US official.

The report indicated that the proposed MoU aims to create a framework for future US-Iran relations.

The official, who requested anonymity, clarified that any advantages for Iran — such as sanctions relief and the unfreezing of assets — would be strictly contingent upon Tehran’s cooperation with Washington regarding its nuclear program and its pledge not to endorse what the United States refers to as “radicalism” in the region.
