On Monday, April 20, Reddy visited the Kaleshwaram Temple, where he laid the groundwork for renovation projects at the Muktheswara Alayam and later assessed the damage at the Medigadda barrage. In the evening, he addressed a large public assembly at Nastur Pally village in Bhupalpally district, announcing the release of ₹2,206 crore under the second phase of the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Meanwhile, KCR hosted a significant ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ in Jagityal, where he welcomed former Congress leader Jeevan Reddy into the BRS and appointed him as the party’s general secretary, indicating a strategic political maneuver.
Reddy challenges BRS to secure Opposition status
During the Nastur Pally gathering, Revanth Reddy launched a robust attack on the BRS, displaying confidence in the longevity of his government.
“We will remain in power for a minimum of two terms. The BRS is lost in fantasies. We will make sure that BRS doesn’t even achieve the status of an opposition party in the next elections. We defeated them in the 2023 assembly elections, restricted them to zero seats in Parliament elections, and showcased our strength in the Panchayat and municipal elections. This is my open challenge to party workers. If I fail, I will change my name,” he asserted.

“Countless Congress workers helped bring this government to power. Should it be ousted after providing 70,000 jobs and fulfilling loan waivers?” he emphasized his electoral confidence and questioned the credibility of opposition critiques.
Reddy reaffirmed that his administration has met its commitment to waive farm loans up to ₹2 lakh within a year and transferred thousands of crores directly to farmers’ accounts. He stressed that farmer welfare is central to Congress’s policy, rather than merely a slogan.
Reddy enumerates Congress government initiatives in Telangana
He outlined welfare initiatives, including free bus travel for women, subsidized LPG, free electricity up to 200 units, and extensive housing projects for the underprivileged. The CM accused the previous BRS government of ignoring crucial welfare sectors, stating his administration delivers both development and social security.
Reddy also sharply criticized Jeevan Reddy for joining the BRS, stating, “Everyone is aware of Jeevan Reddy’s background. The party offered him numerous chances, yet he lost the Assembly elections and still held an MLC position. He sought a ministerial role, and when that didn’t materialize, he abandoned the party and allied with our political rivals.”
KCR expresses certainty of returning to power
In Jagityal, KCR retaliated fiercely, expressing full assurance that BRS would regain power while sharply attacking the Congress government.
“The Telangana movement was my duty, and I accomplished it. I assert with total confidence that BRS will return to power without a doubt,” KCR claimed.

He criticized the government for its failures across various sectors, remarking, “They made numerous promises but haven’t launched a single new scheme. Development has stagnated in all areas,” alleging a decline in governance under the Congress administration.
KCR also questioned the state’s economic policies, citing dwindling revenues, agricultural distress, and wavering market confidence. He highlighted concerns over farmers’ challenges, unemployment, unpaid student fee reimbursements, and delays in irrigation initiatives, accusing the government of mismanagement.
KCR denounces the Hydra demolition initiative
A significant flashpoint in the political skirmish is the contentious Hydra demolition initiative. KCR harshly criticized the government for targeting impoverished families under the guise of development.
“What kind of Hydra is this? Why such hostility in demolishing the homes of the less fortunate? They are destroying thousands of houses in the name of Musi rejuvenation. We are not opposed to it, but there must be an appropriate system,” he stated.
“We will abolish HYDRA immediately upon returning to power,” he vowed, promising to overturn the policy and protect vulnerable communities.

The recent developments underscore a deepening political clash in Telangana. While Revanth Reddy highlights welfare accomplishments, governance success, and political strength, KCR is constructing a counter-narrative concerning economic decline, governance shortcomings, and controversial initiatives like the Hydra demolitions.
With both leaders adopting assertive and uncompromising stances, the political battle in Telangana continues to intensify, influencing the state’s discourse even in the absence of imminent elections.
