Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt, and Virat Kohli each scored half-centuries, leading the defending champions to an impressive total of 240 for 4 — the second-highest score of the season — against Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League match on Sunday.
Salt dazzled with a rapid 36-ball 78, featuring six fours and six sixes, while seasoned player Kohli contributed with a steady 50 off 38 deliveries, as the two forged a solid 120-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Salt was dismissed by Shardul Thakur in his first over, during the team’s 11th, which brought a significant sense of relief to MI.
Captain Rajat Patidar then continued the momentum from Salt’s innings, scoring a quick-fire 53 off just 20 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes, as RCB made a bold statement.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians’ skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to field.
Brief scores: 240 for 4 in 20 overs (Phil Salt 78, Virat Kohli 50, Rajat Patidar 53, Tim David 35 not out).
