Rishabh Pant resigns as captain of LSG.
Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has stepped down from his role as captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as of Friday.

In an official announcement on their social media channels, LSG’s Director of Cricket Tom Moody confirmed that Pant’s request to step away from leadership responsibilities was accepted by the franchise with immediate effect.

“Rishabh approached the franchise with this request, and we have accepted it respectfully. Such decisions are never straightforward,” Moody remarked.
He further stated, “We appreciate everything Rishabh has contributed as captain in the dressing room. Our focus now shifts to the collective goal of rebuilding and restructuring to achieve the highest standards.”

LSG finished at the bottom of the standings this season, earning only four points from 14 matches. In the previous year, they ended in seventh place with 12 points during the league stages. Pant was acquired by the franchise for a record ₹27 crore in the mega auction prior to IPL 2025.

Additionally, Pant struggled to deliver satisfactory performances with the bat, concluding the recent season with 312 runs at a strike rate of 138.05. In the previous year, he totaled 269 runs, with 118 of those scored in a match against eventual champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) when LSG was already out of contention for a top-four finish.
