Registration for Amarnath Yatra 2026 Opens, Pilgrimage Set to Begin on July 3
Registration for the annual Amarnath Yatra is now open as of Wednesday, April 15, enabling devotees throughout India to obtain permits for this sacred journey.

Officials have implemented both online and offline registration methods, with services provided at 554 designated bank branches across the nation to facilitate a seamless process.

Yatra dates revealed
The 57-day pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to start on July 3 and wrap up on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. This yatra, honoring Lord Shiva, draws thousands of devotees annually from various regions, both domestically and internationally.

Registration options

Pilgrims can register via the official website of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) or by visiting authorized bank branches. This year, the registration process has been optimized to minimize wait times and enhance convenience.

The SASB has confirmed that each designated bank branch has a predetermined daily quota for each route and must ensure that the number of registrations does not exceed the limit set for the Amarnath Yatra 2026.

Safety protocols and eligibility

Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, who chairs the shrine board, stated that participants must be aged between 13 and 70. He emphasized that several new measures have been introduced for safety, including mandatory RFID cards, increased insurance coverage up to ₹10 lakh, and improved infrastructure, such as wider paths and better connectivity.

“With enhanced facilities, real-time monitoring, improved sanitation, and better connectivity, the yatra experience has substantially improved. Devotees are reporting higher satisfaction with the arrangements than in previous years,” quoted LG Sinha, according to ANI.

How to register

As per the shrine board’s guidelines, devotees must first obtain a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from authorized medical facilities. Applicants are then required to complete the registration form, choose their preferred route and travel date, and provide valid identification. A yatra permit will be granted upon successful registration, which is essential for participating in the pilgrimage.

“Advance registration is possible at 554 bank branches. Various branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank across the country will facilitate this registration. Online registration can also be completed through the official Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board website,” he added.
