Prayers Mark Good Friday in Kerala as Election Candidates Attend Church Services
The Christian community in Kerala commemorated ‘Good Friday’ following traditional customs and beliefs, as various party candidates engaged with the occasion by extending greetings and visiting churches ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.

VD Satheesan, the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly and candidate for the Paravur assembly seat, shared Good Friday wishes in a Facebook post, while Congress’ Vattiyoorkavu candidate K Muraleedharan participated in a ‘Way of Cross’ procession in the state capital.

State Water Resources Minister and Kerala Congress (M) leader Roshy Augustine, who is vying for the Idukki assembly constituency, ascended the Malayattoor hills in the Ernakulam district, home to the renowned St Thomas church.
Alongside Augustine, thousands of devotees also trekked the Malayattoor hills, as the Christian community in the state opted to forgo luxuries and physical comforts to engage in special prayers at churches during this occasion.

Believers were seen making their way up the hills, carrying wooden crosses of various sizes on their shoulders and hands.
