The announcement occurred in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.
Chaudhary submitted his nomination for the role on Saturday and was the only candidate in the contest. He provided his papers to former Union minister and BJP state election officer Mahendra Nath Pandey, along with central election observer Vinod Tawde.
Adityanath, his two deputies, and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh were present during the nomination submission.
After the announcement of Pankaj Chaudhary’s election, outgoing state BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary transferred the party flag to his successor.
Goyal, serving as the Central Election Officer, presented Pankaj Chaudhary with his election certificate.
A seven-time Lok Sabha MP from the Maharajganj constituency, Chaudhary is part of the Kurmi community, classified under Other Backwards Classes (OBC). He is regarded as a close ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
BJP leaders congratulated Chaudhary on his new role and expressed optimism regarding the party’s future under his leadership in the state, where assembly elections are scheduled for 2027.
Deputy Chief Minister Maurya mentioned that the 2027 assembly election poses a significant challenge for the party and asserted that the BJP would achieve a decisive victory under Chaudhary’s guidance. Deputy Chief Minister Pathak also extended his congratulations to Chaudhary on becoming the state BJP president.
Cabinet Minister Dara Singh Chauhan stated that the party would reach new heights under Chaudhary’s leadership, while MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan expressed gratitude to the BJP’s national leadership for their decision and voiced confidence that the party would regain power in the state with a full majority in 2027.
Senior BJP leader Dinesh Pratap Singh remarked that Chaudhary is fully qualified to provide robust leadership to the party and thanked the central leadership for placing their trust in him.
