Lionel Messi Arrives in Mumbai with High-Level Security for GOAT India Tour 2025
Football icon Lionel Messi touched down in Mumbai around noon on Sunday, accompanied by tight, “World Cup-level” security measures, as his four-city GOAT India Tour 2025 moved into its second day.

The World Cup-winning Argentine captain is set to make a brief stop at the Taj Colaba before heading to the Cricket Club of India at Brabourne Stadium, where he will participate in a Padel GOAT Club event. A celebrity football match is also scheduled later in the day.

Messi, joined by Inter Miami teammates Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul, is anticipated to arrive at the famed Wankhede Stadium around 5 pm for the tour’s marquee event.

Mumbai Police have implemented stringent security protocols across venues, including prohibitions on carrying water bottles, metal items, and coins. Watchtowers have been erected to oversee crowd movements, reflecting heightened alertness due to the immense public interest in Messi’s visit.

Anticipating large crowds near the stadiums during Messi’s appearance, the city police force has stationed over 2,000 personnel around both venues.

“In light of the chaos experienced in Kolkata and breaches in security, we have established World Cup-level security measures at Brabourne and Wankhede stadiums,” a police official stated.

Messi had arrived in India during the early hours of Saturday, but the opening leg of the tour in Kolkata quickly spiraled into chaos later that day due to inadequate crowd management and security failures.

Conversely, his evening itinerary in Hyderabad unfolded smoothly, contrasting sharply with the turmoil in Kolkata and wrapping up on a high note.
