The chamber, family, and city officials surprised Jackson with a celebration of her work on Thursday morning.

Jackson received three proclamations from the City of Rusk, the Chamber, and State Senator Robert Nichols. The Longview native opened the J&J Jewelry in Sept. 1954. Making it the oldest business in Cherokee County.
“It’s just been fun to be in business all these years and see the different generations come and go,’ said Jackson.
Jackson’s favorite part was meeting different people and participating in special events.
“Seeing the friendships of all the people means a lot, but I had a lot of fun helping brides pick out their selections for their wedding showers,” she said.
Jackson plans to dedicate volunteer time in Rusk during her retirement. Jackson shared advice for any future entrepreneur like herself, believing in “If you treat people like you want to be treated, you will have business,” she said.
Jackson will retire and close the shop on May 31.
