Navi Mumbai to Set Up 1,148 Voting Centers for Civic Elections on January 15; 950,000 Voters Expected
Approximately 9.50 lakh voters are set to participate in the elections for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on January 15. The polls will utilize a multi-member panel system to select 111 corporators from 28 wards, as announced by officials on Monday.

Campaigning for the elections, which feature 499 candidates from various political parties vying for 111 seats, will conclude at 5:30 pm on Tuesday (January 13).

Municipal Commissioner and Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Kailash Shinde stated that “the entire system is ready” for the polling process.
According to an NMMC announcement, Navi Mumbai has 9,48,460 eligible voters, comprising 5,16,267 males and 4,32,040 females. To ensure smooth operations, a total of 1,148 polling stations have been set up across 185 locations.

A total of 6,890 employees, including polling station presidents and officers, have successfully completed two rounds of training and will be backed by a substantial police presence during the election. In preparation for voting, over 1,400 control units and 3,700 ballot units have been inspected, the release stated.

Wheelchairs and designated volunteers will be available at all polling stations to assist senior voters and individuals with disabilities, it noted.

Municipal corporations in 29 major cities and towns throughout Maharashtra are also scheduled to hold elections on January 15.
