Muthoot Finance announced a change in leadership on Saturday (July 1), with its Board suggesting the appointment of Alexander George as the new Managing Director, effective October 1, pending approval from shareholders at the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM).

The current Managing Director, George Alexander Muthoot, who has guided the gold loan provider for over thirty years, will take on the role of Executive Vice Chairman.

This decision is part of a carefully planned succession strategy aimed at ensuring leadership stability and long-term institutional strength.

Alexander George, the youngest son of former chairman M G George Muthoot, has been with the company since 2006. As a Whole-Time Director, he has managed operations in North, East, and West India and has spearheaded initiatives related to branch growth, digital innovation, customer engagement, marketing, and operational efficiency.

The Board also put forward the promotion of K.R. Bijimon, who is currently the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A chartered accountant by trade, Bijimon has been part of Muthoot Finance for nearly thirty years.

The leadership changes coincide with Muthoot Finance’s record financial results for the June quarter. The company has recently surpassed ₹1.91 lakh crore in consolidated loan assets under management (AUM) and achieved a record consolidated profit after tax of ₹10,606 crore in FY26.

Commenting on the transition, George Alexander Muthoot emphasized the importance of preparing the next generation of leadership within every institution, stating that the timing was right for the handover. He remarked that he would continue to support the company in his new capacity as Executive Vice Chairman to ensure a seamless transition.Chairman George Jacob Muthoot expressed confidence that Alexander George would lead the company with vision and integrity, noting that the thoughtfully planned transition would secure continuity, stability, and sustainable growth.

The company indicated that its existing leadership team and senior management will collaborate closely with Alexander George to advance the company’s long-term strategy while upholding strong corporate governance and creating stakeholder value.
