The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the party’s partner in the January 15 civic elections, will also undertake similar actions during this timeframe, he added.
Following this, both parties will seek registration from the Konkan divisional commissioner, Satam informed reporters.
“The BJP is committed to providing leadership that fulfills the expectations of Mumbai’s citizens. The city will see an end to potholes, waterlogging, and corruption,” Satam stated.
Mumbai is already experiencing growth under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he noted.
In response to assertions from some Shiv Sena leaders alleging that the BJP intentionally assigned them wards with a large Muslim voter base for the civic elections, Satam clarified that each seat was thoroughly discussed before the seat-sharing agreement was finalized.
“The BJP is currently analyzing 109 wards where either a BJP or Shiv Sena candidate was defeated, and comments on the allegations will be made only after this analysis is completed,” Satam mentioned. The BJP and Shiv Sena collectively secured 118 seats in the 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
She emphasized that there is no rift between the BJP and Shiv Sena, and the alliance will examine shortcomings while working to enhance its performance in upcoming elections, Satam added.
He also expressed pride that a woman will occupy the mayor’s position in the metropolis. The next mayor of Mumbai will be a woman from the general category, as determined by a lottery conducted earlier in the day.
Regarding the reservation for the Mumbai mayor’s role, Satam explained that it had previously been reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate, which is why it was excluded from SC reservation this time.
He pointed out that civic bodies that participated in the elections were arranged alphabetically, placing the BMC at the 17th position, thus making OBC reservation inapplicable this time.
According to Satam, this reservation may come into effect after the first two-and-a-half years.
He further ridiculed the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, insinuating that the party will only speak rationally once it recovers from the shock of receiving a single-digit seat count in the Mumbai civic elections.
