Modi blames Opposition for hindering women’s quota initiative, cautions about political consequences.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov conferred with Prime Minister Modi to enhance strategic relations.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized Opposition parties for hindering important legislation, including a proposed amendment related to women’s reservation, portraying the setback as a significant blow to women’s rights.

In a televised address following the government’s failure to pass the bills in the Lok Sabha, Modi accused the Indian National Congress, Trinamool Congress, and Samajwadi Party of placing political agendas above gender justice.

He claimed that Opposition members had “celebrated” the defeat of the legislation in Parliament, labeling it an insult to women’s dignity and aspirations. The Prime Minister suggested that this move denied women the entitlements they had long been promised and described the incident as indicative of “self-serving politics.”

Modi also emphasized that women voters would hold Opposition leaders accountable. He indicated that the memory of the stalled legislation would resonate beyond Parliament, potentially influencing public sentiment at the grassroots level.

These remarks emerge amidst rising political tensions, with the government and Opposition engaged in a broader struggle over legislative priorities and parliamentary strategies.
