Man charged with robbing Galesburg business, eluding police


GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) – A man is charged after police say he robbed a Galesburg business Thursday morning, then fled from police.

Grayling Churn, 67, is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery to a police officer and several traffic violations.

The Galesburg Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery about 9:20 a.m. at Flavor Freeze, at 552 S. Farnham Street, according to a media release.

Churn left the business with a bank bag that had cash in it, police said.

Officers said they found Churn’s vehicle and attempted a stop. When he did not stop, officers pursued the vehicle.

In the 200 block of Linneus Avenue, Churn stopped the vehicle and ran, police said. He was arrested shortly after.

According to police, Churn is being investigated in connection with other recent robberies in Galesburg.

Police said he is in custody at Knox County Jail.
