Maharashtra Municipal Election: How to Locate Your Nearby Polling Station
Maharashtra municipal corporations are set to hold elections on January 15, 2026, after several delays over recent years due to various factors.

Among the 29 municipal corporations participating in this election, two are newly established: Jalna and Ichalkaranji. The remaining 27 corporations last held elections between 2015 and 2018, including the noteworthy Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which had its last elections in 2017.

How to locate your polling booth?
For voters planning to cast their votes in these significant elections, one key challenge may be determining where their polling station is located. Voters have several methods to identify their designated polling booth.

The most straightforward way is to visit the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) website. Unlike Assembly and Parliamentary elections, local body elections are managed by the State Election Commission rather than the Election Commission of India.

On the home page of the Maharashtra SEC, click on the ‘Voter’ tab and then select the ‘Search in voterlist’ option from the dropdown menu. Next, click on the ‘Local Body Voterlist’ link and a new page will appear.

On this page, select the ‘Search Name in Voter List’ option. When the new page opens, you can choose to search either by your name or your EPIC number in the voter list.

After entering your name or your EPIC number, you will be provided with details regarding your voter registration location.

To summarize, here’s the pathway to obtain your polling station information.

-> Search in Voter List -> Local Body Voter List -> -> Search Name in Voter List -> https://mahasecvoterlist.in/ObjectionOnClick/SearchVoterName

Alternatively, you can directly visit the last link to find your name and voter information.

What’s at stake in the upcoming elections?

Having secured a decisive victory in the Assembly elections and achieved significant success in local body polls last month, the Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena (Balasaheb), and NCP (Ajit Pawar) is now targeting the BMC.

For the Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Shiv Sena (Uddhav), Congress, and NCP (Sharad Pawar), these elections present a chance to make a comeback. A poor performance in these elections would mark the third consecutive electoral defeat for the alliance.
