On Tuesday, a special MP/MLA court in Lucknow continued to hear arguments from the complainant regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship.

Special judge Alok Verma engaged extensively with the points raised by complainant S Vignesh Shishir, who asserted that Rahul Gandhi holds dual citizenship and that his election as a Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli should therefore be annulled.

Shishir’s complaint cites multiple alleged violations under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, Passport Act, Foreigners Act, and Official Secrets Act.
The court will resume hearings on Wednesday.

The complaint was originally lodged in Rae Bareli, but due to the complainant’s assertion of a life threat there, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court recently moved the case to Lucknow.
