Kohli declines handshake with Head following intense verbal exchange during IPL match.
Tensions escalated during the IPL matchup between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, featuring a heated exchange between Virat Kohli and Travis Head amid Hyderabad’s convincing 55-run win.

The intensity peaked during RCB’s pursuit of a challenging 256-run target, as Kohli and Head traded words on the field. A visibly annoyed Kohli seemed to gesture for Head to bowl, also mockingly signaling the “Impact Player” substitution, likely in reference to Head’s frequent replacements by specialist bowlers after batting.

Kohli’s time in the game was cut short, as he was dismissed for 15 runs off 11 balls shortly after the altercation. Head later contributed with the ball too, taking the wicket of RCB captain Rajat Patidar.

The friction seemed to carry on after the game, as cameras captured Head reaching for a handshake that Kohli appeared to overlook while passing by during the standard post-match greetings.

Despite their loss, RCB retained the top spot in the IPL standings due to a superior net run rate, while SRH leveled with them on points. Both teams have already secured their spots in the playoffs.
