Justice K Babu approved the petition after hearing Haridas’s counsel and ordered a summons to be issued to Gandhi, as reported by Bar and Bench. The case is set for a hearing in August.
Haridas, who ran as the BJP candidate in the November 13 by-election, placed third behind CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri, with Gandhi securing the seat by a margin exceeding five lakh votes.

In her petition, Haridas claimed that Gandhi did not disclose various immovable properties owned by her and her husband, Robert Vadra, along with their investments and movable assets attributed to Vadra. These alleged omissions were stated to constitute the suppression of material facts, violating mandatory disclosure requirements under the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Haridas further contended that Gandhi misled voters through this suppression, thereby affecting the electoral results through corrupt practices as defined under Section 123 of the Act.
