Last year, British police handcuffed 18-year-old Henry Nowak as he succumbed to stab wounds after his assailant falsely claimed a racist attack. The assailant, a Sikh man, was sentenced on Monday.
Footage released after the sentencing captured officers neglecting the cries of a dying innocent man, igniting anger and a political debate regarding police treatment of various ethnicities.
Starmer has voiced that the police have significant questions to answer about their response to the situation, yet condemned a violent protest that occurred on Tuesday night, stating it was “unforgivable” to exploit the tragedy to incite tension.
“Musk has once again been meddling in our politics in recent days, attempting to sow division. This is not representative of who we are as a nation,” Starmer remarked to reporters.
X did not provide an immediate comment regarding Starmer’s remarks. This exchange takes place as Musk’s SpaceX is preparing for what could potentially be the largest initial public offering in history.
MUSK ACCUSED UK POLICE OF BIAS
Musk had shared his views on X regarding the case, implying that police are biased against white individuals, as well as reposting critical comments from other users about the incident.
“The West has established a profoundly corrupt state religion where an accusation of ‘racism’ is considered the most serious offense, even more so than rape or murder!” he tweeted on Wednesday.
Both the police and the government have denied claims of bias within policing.
Nowak’s family, who had a private meeting with Starmer on Thursday, described the treatment he received from police as “inhumane and degrading,” yet stressed that his death should not be manipulated to foster further division, hatred, or tension.

Musk has previously been critical of Starmer, notably in January 2025, pointing out that he failed in his capacity as chief public prosecutor from 2008 to 2013 to hold accountable gangs of men, mostly of South Asian descent, who had sexually abused girls.
Starmer has defended his actions in that role.
He has also supported a Labour Party lawmaker who is taking legal action against Musk’s xAI, claiming the Grok AI platform generated fake sexualized images of her. Starmer has previously condemned Grok over such images, which prompted X to take steps to comply with UK law.
