Trump willing to meet with Supreme Leader, claims he’s not the Ayatollah’s ‘top choice’

Netanyahu promoted measures that intensified the Iran crisis, according to a report.

New concerns have arisen regarding the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, as Hezbollah has rejected the US-brokered agreement, insisting on a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the US-Iran conflict and the broader tensions throughout West Asia.

US-Iran War Live Updates: US President Donald Trump expressed he would be “honored” to engage with Iran’s Supreme Leader.

“If I were to meet with the new Ayatollah, it would indeed be an honor,” Trump stated to journalists. When asked if the Iranian leader might bear resentment due to US-Israeli strikes on February 28 that resulted in the deaths of his father, wife, and child, Trump remarked: “I would say I’m not his favorite person.”

The strikes, referred to as Operation Epic Fury, have catapulted the West Asian region into conflict for over three months. Ongoing discussions between Washington and Tehran aim to bring an end to the war, which is currently sustained by a precarious ceasefire.

Trump suggested that the Supreme Leader might be “professional”.

“He’s likely a professional in various circles. He has actually built a strong reputation… many people speak ill of me. That’s entirely untrue,” Trump mentioned.

Meanwhile, the US-brokered ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Lebanon appears to be deteriorating following Hezbollah’s rejection. The Iran-aligned militia demands a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon and promises to persist in its resistance. This rejection jeopardizes the efforts to prevent the conflict from escalating due to the ongoing US-Iran war.

This development follows warnings from Israeli officials that any violation of the proposed ceasefire could provoke renewed military responses, including strikes on Beirut. Earlier this week, Israel had threatened significant action against Hezbollah positions within the Lebanese capital.

Despite the ceasefire declaration, incidents of gunfire and Israeli strikes have persisted across southern Lebanon.
