This initiative comes months after Kavitha’s suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in September 2025. She alleged that senior party leaders, including her cousins T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar, were harming her father’s and the party’s reputation due to controversies surrounding the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
After her suspension, Kavitha redirected her efforts towards public engagement via Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she leads.
Last month, she unveiled her new political party centered around ‘Telangana-focused’ issues, as reported by PTI. In a press conference, Kavitha articulated the vision for her party, which aims to prioritize inclusive development, welfare, and self-sufficiency.
She stressed that the party’s formation intends to address the unmet aspirations of the state’s people. Highlighting the critical demands of the Telangana movement, she accused past governments of failing to fulfill promises made to farmers, youth, and marginalized communities.
“In 12 years, we still haven’t secured the ‘Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu’ or ‘Water, Funds and Jobs’ we fought for. From farmers to industrialists, from the youth to the elderly, from SCs & STs to BCs, from Sikhs to Muslims to Christians and other minority communities—the list is endless. Every section of society is suffering, and previous governments have neglected the needs and aspirations of the people of Telangana,” she said, according to ANI.
The former parliamentarian also noted that her party aims to bring governance closer to the populace and tackle issues at the grassroots level. She highlighted that the new platform will focus on local concerns that are frequently ignored and dedicated to the welfare of all societal segments.
In her recent comments, Kavitha sharply criticized her former party, implying that it would not change its ways in the foreseeable future.
“The BRS party would not change even after 1,000 years. There is no acknowledgement of those who fought for Telangana statehood,” Kavitha was quoted by PTI.
Interestingly, the name of her new party mirrors the original identity of the BRS, which was previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi before its renaming in 2022.
