“In the last few hours, no potential threats have been noted by the concerned Jordanian authorities,” said government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani in a written statement to Reuters. “Both the airport and the port are functioning normally.”
The US embassy reported that the airport and seaport were evacuated due to a “specific and credible threat,” without disclosing additional details.
They urged Americans to avoid travel to these locations and to adhere to all security guidance provided by Jordanian authorities.
On Saturday, the US military confirmed that two of its personnel were killed in Jordan, with another reported missing following an Iranian assault.
Throughout the past week, Jordan has repeatedly stated that it intercepted Iranian missiles traversing its airspace.
