Parag’s decision to have Ravi Bishnoi bowl to left-handed batsmen facing the larger side of the boundary, along with holding Tushar Deshpande back for the final over, garnered praise from all sides, including Ravi Shastri, who encouraged him to reach new heights in leadership.
“This was the best match of the season thus far. It was crucial for Rajasthan that Riyan Parag earns that respect while leading the team,” Pathan stated on JioStar.
“He made that tough decision in the final over, which worked in favor of Rajasthan, boosting his confidence as a leader. He opted for Jofra Archer to bowl the 19th over, typically a choice you’d make with a more experienced bowler in that critical stage.”
Archer delivered an outstanding performance, allowing just four runs and slowing down Gujarat’s chase. Deshpande then kept his composure to defend 10 runs in the last over as Rajasthan Royals triumphed over Gujarat Titans by six runs.
“Jofra utilized his experience, pace, and denied any room to Rabada or Rashid Khan, who were both performing well. That over set it up perfectly for Tushar Deshpande, as getting 10 runs off it would have sealed the game for GT. It was an exceptional over from Jofra.”
“And praise goes to Tushar Deshpande, who maintained his composure and bowled precise yorkers consistently to secure the win for his team,” Pathan noted.
In contrast, MI won decisively against KKR in their opening match of the season before suffering a defeat on the road against DC on Saturday.
