India’s exports of engineering goods surged by 24.48% to reach $12.31 billion in May 2026, compared to $9.89 billion during the same month last year, as reported by the industry organization EEPC India on Sunday.

For the period of April-May 2026-27, the cumulative engineering exports totaled $22.66 billion, reflecting a growth of 16.8% from $19.40 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha noted that the sector had “successfully navigated through a very challenging period,” achieving positive growth despite disruptions caused by the conflict in West Asia.
“The trend clearly indicates the engineering community’s ability to adapt to the changing external circumstances,” Chadha remarked, emphasizing that government support and trade facilitation measures were instrumental in this achievement.

He did, however, warn that challenges persist, even with the announcement of a peace deal between the US and Iran.

“It will take time for the agreement to yield positive results, considering the significant disruption in the energy market and its subsequent effects,” he explained.

Chadha emphasized that sustaining the current momentum will require ongoing attention to market conditions as well as diversification of products.
