As part of their preparations for the series, the team will also engage in a four-day practice match in Colombo starting August 7. The announcement was made by BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia in light of the recommendations from the Men’s Selection Committee.
The squad consists of Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Saransh Jain.
Fitness watch
The BCCI indicated that both Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah are included in the squad, but their participation in the tour is contingent upon receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE). It was also confirmed that all-rounder Washington Sundar is unavailable for selection for the first Test.

The two-match Test series will kick off with the first Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to August 19. The second and final Test is scheduled to take place at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo from August 23 to August 27.
