“The test was executed under the auspices of the Strategic Forces Command,” the ministry noted.
The Agni missiles, ranging from 1 to 4, have distances varying from 700 km to 3,500 km and have already been put into service.
Previously, on September 24, 2025, India conducted a successful first rail-based test of the intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni-Prime.
This test, carried out in collaboration with the Strategic Forces Command, was conducted from a Rail-based Mobile Launcher under a complete operational scenario. This event marks a first of its kind, showcasing improved mobility, rapid reaction capabilities, and low-visibility deployment.
As per DRDO, the domestically developed missile can target locations up to 2,000 kilometres away, thus bolstering India’s strategic deterrent capabilities. Officials stated that the successful test highlights the system’s efficiency in providing cross-country mobility and flexible deployment options, crucial for operational readiness.
