HCLTech establishes an AI hub in GIFT City and partners with IIT Gandhinagar.
HCLTech has inaugurated a Global Technology Center in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) dedicated to creating artificial intelligence-driven solutions for clients in global financial services. The company has also signed memoranda of understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and Gujarat Technological University to foster research and the development of technology talent.

The new center will concentrate on creating advanced technology solutions and nurturing talent, while the collaborations with the two educational institutions will involve research in artificial intelligence for financial services, software development, and skills training. The students and faculty will gain industry insights through digital transformation initiatives, as stated by the company.

The center was unveiled by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, alongside HCLTech Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director C Vijayakumar and GIFT City Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Kaul.
Industry-academia collaboration

The partnerships with IIT Gandhinagar and Gujarat Technological University aim to enhance collaboration between academic institutions and the industry while developing a talent pipeline for tech roles in Gujarat, as indicated by the company.

In his remarks on the launch, C Vijayakumar, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of HCLTech, stated, “GIFT City provides exceptional infrastructure, and we are excited to establish our presence in the region to shape the future of financial services clients with cutting-edge AI solutions.” He emphasized the company’s commitment to bolster the state’s technology ecosystem and enhance industry-academia collaboration to prepare future-ready talent.

Commenting on the development, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi remarked, “HCLTech’s dedication to generating local employment and fostering local talent aligns seamlessly with our vision of enabling Gujarat’s youth to access global career prospects closer to home.” He noted that the Global Technology Center and AI lab would further solidify GIFT City’s role as a hub for technology and financial services.
