How camp counselors motivate kids
Lifehacker.com recently wrote an article about how camp counselors motivate kids during summer camp. For instance, they don’t telling kids what not to do, they encourage the behavior they wish to see.
- Former pro basketball player Nate Frye is launching a multi-sport summer camp called The Den of Alpha Omega.
- The camp, for ages 8-15, will run June 2 onwards at the Thibodaux Regional Wellness Center.

- Frye, a Houma Christian and University of New Orleans standout, has coaching and professional playing experience.
A former professional basketball player is starting a summer camp for basketball and other sports.
Nate Frye, founder of The Den of Alpha Omega, is beginning a camp in June that will include basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, soccer and football. The camp will be at the Thibodaux Regional Wellness Center from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday beginning June 2. It is for ages 8 to 15 and will cost $175 for each week.
“Alpha Omega, alphabetically, has always encompassed everything from the beginning to the end, and that’s why we want it to be more than just basketball,” Frye said. “We want to offer the same services we do for basketball for other sports, and this is kind of our foot in the door.”
Athletes will warm up and do strength and cardio training together for about an hour, then break off to their respective sports. Find out more about Frye and his programs on the Alpha Omega Facebook page.
Frye began Alpha Omega in 2022. He is a 2013 graduate of Houma Christian and was a standout basketball player at the University of New Orleans. He played in the NCAA Tournament in 2017. He also played professionally in Canada and South America.
As coach, he led Houma Christian to LHSAA playoff appearances in all three seasons as coach. Since then, he run an off-season basketball league that includes seven parishes.
