Enforcement Directorate conducts raids at seven locations connected to TMC MLA Madan Mitra in relation to an alleged municipality recruitment scam, bribe allegations, and 125 unlawful appointments in West Bengal

The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday executed raids at properties associated with TMC MLA Madan Mitra as part of a money laundering probe linked to a purported municipality recruitment scandal, officials revealed.
Officials indicated that seven locations connected to Mitra, a past minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, are currently under examination.
Mitra represents the Kamarhati assembly constituency in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district.

It is alleged that Mitra accepted bribery in cash and gold through intermediaries concerning the hiring of unqualified candidates for various municipal positions, including that of Kamarhati municipality, according to ED officials.
They further asserted that Mitra is “connected” to 125 such unauthorized appointments.
