This initiative, created in partnership with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, is set to commence operations on Friday, May 15.
As per DMRC, the shuttle buses will link Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations with significant government offices and sites within the Central Vista area, such as Kartavya Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Akbar Road, Baroda House, National Stadium, the National Gallery of Modern Art, India Gate, and Seva Teerth Metro Station.
The project utilizes two hydrogen fuel cell buses supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Each vehicle accommodates 35 passengers and is outfitted with GPS tracking and CCTV systems for effective monitoring, safety, and route management.
The buses will run on weekdays from Monday to Friday, excluding gazetted holidays, during two peak periods—8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Their frequency will be every 30 minutes, with one bus operating in a clockwise direction and the other anti-clockwise along the designated route.
Passengers can pay fares using National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC), UPI, or cash. The ticket prices are set at ₹10 and ₹15, depending on the distance traveled.
DMRC will manage operations, ticketing, and passenger services, while IOCL will supply drivers and the hydrogen fuel.
The corporation emphasized that this initiative aims to promote public transportation usage, lessen the reliance on private vehicles, and encourage the adoption of cleaner energy technologies in urban transit.
