Karnataka Congress MLC and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Yatindra, stated on Thursday (December 11) that the high command has made it clear there will be no changes in leadership.
“There is currently no contest for the CM position. Everything is transparent. The high command has explicitly stated that, at present, there will be no change in leadership,” he told reporters in Belagavi during the Winter Session of the state legislative assembly.
Despite rising speculation regarding a shift in chief ministership, the power struggle within the ruling party intensified after the Congress government crossed the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20.
Both CM and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar have recently participated in breakfast meetings at one another’s residences, per the high command’s directive. This is perceived as a strategy to ease the leadership conflict and to indicate Siddaramaiah’s ongoing role as CM for the time being, especially with the Belagavi assembly session in progress.
