Voting for the affluent BMC, along with 28 other municipal corporations throughout Maharashtra, is set for January 15, 2026. The party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has revealed candidates for 75 of the 227 seats in the Mumbai civic council.
During the manifesto launch, former Delhi chief minister Atishi highlighted that despite a civic budget exceeding ₹75,000 crore, the BMC has struggled to provide fundamental services and continues to be mired in corruption. She emphasized that AAP’s governance approach in Delhi and Punjab will be mirrored in Mumbai.
The manifesto states that households would enjoy free electricity up to 200 units and 24×7 access to clean drinking water, with the free supply limited to 20,000 litres monthly. A comprehensive refurbishment of BMC-operated schools with modern facilities is also promised, alongside free bus passes for students.

Additionally, the manifesto pledges to rejuvenate BEST with a fleet of electric buses, eliminate potholes from roads, enhance waste management and sanitation, boost women’s safety, safeguard the environment, and implement transparent, digitized civic governance.
AAP’s Mumbai President Preeti Sharma Menon stated that the party would approach the elections with the principle of “kaam ki rajneeti” (politics of service), mentioning that they have nominated educated candidates with a history of public service.
