The release was facilitated by Maharashtra BJP chief Ravindra Chavan along with state minister and local leader Ganesh Naik.
Chavan stated that the BJP aims to have its own Mayor in the city.
During the event, 12 Congress councillors from Ambernath switched to the BJP, with Chavan emphasizing that their move was to advance development projects under the “double engine” BJP government at both the state and central levels.
Chavan highlighted that Navi Mumbai is the only self-sufficient municipal corporation in India concerning water resources.
“Numerous workers from different parties are joining us because they understand that aligning with power is essential for serving the citizens,” stated the state BJP chief, while also making it clear that AIMIM members from Akot would not be welcomed into the BJP.
Ganesh Naik reaffirmed that there would be no hikes in water and property taxes for the next 20 years.
CIDCO lands will be converted to freehold, he announced.
Without directly naming deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, who is a BJP ally, Naik remarked that the city faced considerable challenges during the period when Fadnavis was not in the chief ministerial position.
He further claimed a Rs 3,000 crore fraud and called for a thorough audit of activities conducted over the past five years under the administrator’s oversight.
The Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) have inflicted “great loss” on the city, and the current FSI (Floor Space Index) allocations were described as “gifts” that, when implemented, could “ruin” the city’s urban structure, Naik asserted.
He also accused CIDCO officials of selling plots designated for Municipal Corporation initiatives.
